Joining RIU Class only shows that you do occasionally visit RIU Hotels. Actually you can obtain a Riu Class Red card and never visit a RIU hotel. #2 Using the Riu Class Red Card does make it easier to communicate with the hotels as you have a number to give them and them reference back to you.
To get a Gold you need 10,000 pts.To maintain Card you have to go to a Riu in a two year span ,or you Loose all your points. When you get to Gold and Maintain it.. you do get late checkout free (IF possible and free upgrade if Possible) To get Diamond .you need Lots more points,and you have to Maintain ,.. out of our reach..You get more perks.
