We always use mears or Maingate cabs around Disney. One driver told us that the last four digits of the cab phone number on the side of the car should be the same for example 3456-2222. If not, they are not legitamate taxis and may cost you an arm and a leg.
Re: How much do taxis cost in orlando? It is $2.00 fee once you get in plus $1 for each additional passenger. Then the charge is $2.40 per mile plus additional charges when you are stuck in traffic or sitting at lights. It is all metered so it would be hard for them to rip you off unless they didn't reset the meter.

I've noticed a lot of questions lately regarding taxi fares. If you go to the website for Orlando International Airport, to the transportation section, and click on the link for Yellow Cab, it will take you to the Mears Transportation website. If you click on taxis, you will see a "button" to click that says Taxi Fare Estimator.
