Lebara was founded in 2001 by UK-based Ratheesan Yoganathan, Rasiah Ranjith Leon and Baskaran Kandiah. The name Lebara was coined from the first two letters of each of the founders' names. You will have to choose between standard/micro sim (they call it combisim -- get this if you're on android / iphone 4 (s)) or nano sim (iphone 5 (s)).
And I have previously used a Vodaphone PAYG SIM card successfully (now expired). The phone was even bought here in UK a couple of years ago, and is not locked to any provider. So much for using a low cost company, that's £6 down the drain. £1 for the card, and £5 for the top up. Which makes them the most expensive mobile company I've ever used!

I bought Lebara sim card, added Data Plus 500 Pass for 15 GBP. They declared: "Mobile Data: Unlimited". After 5 days they cancelled my Data Plus pass without prior notice and switched my sim card to pay-as-you-go tariff, 1 GBP for 0.2 Mb, after that all my Lebara balance was withdrawn in 10 minutes. I called them to find out what happened.
