In fact, I got the credit card last year for the sole reason that we were planning a trip and this seemed like a great way to essentially get 2 flights for half the price of 1.

It was worth the couple of hundred dollars to have the miles to use for a future trip to Hawaii for two of us in first class.

With the BOH account you can get an Hawaiian Airlines debit card but not a credit card. This get you points but not as many as a HA credit card. Even if you could obtain the HA credit card you would need to spend a lot of dollars to have sufficient for a flight then you would also need the ability to pay the monthly statement in US dollars.
