Hey everyone, I will be in Australia from 13.9 to 10.11 and still can't make up my mind on a rental company and type of vehicle.. My initial thought was - I just rent a budget camper van, easy - to sometimes sleep in the van, or sometimes book a bungalow or something on camping areas.
My husband and I are traveling to Australia and New Zealand at the beginning of October. I have read many posts on here from people who are also traveling to both locations. I would love some feedback on our itinerary from locals or other travelers who have done a similar trip.

BUT late december early january is the very very peak season and you may struggle to get rental carand accommodatons. i would definitely recommend you postpone to mid february.
Re: 2 week trip- many questions. Nov 4, 2023, 1:20 AM. Check with rental car companies directly. We booked a Budget NZ car for 4 nights, picking up in Auckland and dropping it off in Napier (Hawke’s Bay airport). The drop off charge was $250 (I think USD). Apex had no drop off in Napier, but I think Avis and Hertz did.
I recently looked at hiring a car for about a week in New Zealand but having been concerned about exclusion clauses in policies or terms of hire (one British example would have meant I had to pay for lost revenue if the vehicle was off the road for repairs as a result of a claim), I looked very carefully and in general, found most looked at had a similar condition explained below.
New Zealand Rental Car Insurance. 1 year ago. I am from the US and will be in New Zealand in February, 2023 - arriving in Christchurch and staying on South Island for three weeks. I have reserved a car with EZI. EZI's rates include Goods and Services Tax (GST) at 15%, unlimited kilometers and standard third party and public liability cover.
