I've done it and it worked. just don't leave it on too long, you don't want to give yourself frostbite. I don't use Abreva. I found it to be ineffective and nasty. I'm a Carmex girl.
I probably should’ve never looked. your dr might be able to prescribe you an oral medication like acyclovir if you have a bad cold sore breakout. Not sure if it’s safe while pregnant but I think it could be. I use Carmex everyday for chapped lips and I’m 10 weeks pregnant never heard carmex was not safe before.

Hi all - FTM and I have a nasty cold sore on my lip and used abreva yesterday before realizing this morning it might not be pregnancy safe. Has anyone else done this? Looking for reassurance that baby will be fine.I stopped using it and contacted my doctor but hoping others have had similar experiences....

I got one only during my pregnancy so I didn’t end up needing the medicine but I would ask since this is your second one.
