    It turns out after speaking with my son who just came back from his Tokyo trip. The Smart-Ex only accepts Mastercard. If you enter a Visa card or Amex, the site will j say that the credit card is invalid. No message saying that Visa and AMEX are not accepted. The site may accept other cards but Mastercard is accepted.
