Wherever you shop, plan to have a cooler in your car for the frozen foods and dairy products. A fabric one is good and can be used at the beach. Buy some reuseable freezer packs or ice. In Kiehi the Safeway is up near Pi'ilani Hwy.; Foodland and Star Market on Kihei Rd.; Longs in Azeka area on Kihei Rd.
Overrated. When you park at the Long Drugstore next door on the way to your traditional luau, it's a bit of a bummer. Went there because it was the most "traditional", most popular, etc. It was extremely commercial, which I imagine they all are, but which I was hoping to avoid with the word "traditional."

If you're willing to take a 10-minute drive, go to Long's Drug Store in Kihei as mentioned in one of the other posts. It has the cheapest liquor and snacks in all south Maui . Worth the drive to not pay high prices in Wailea .
The strip-mall scene reminded me of every beach town on the east coast. Dinner, again, way overpriced and just okay. 2 appetizers and sodas for $50. Friday morning got up early (still on CA time) and had breakfast at Seawatch. Beautiful views, nice breakfast, lovely place. Maui was starting to look up.

Yesterday as we were driving back from hubby running on the West Side early morning - we noticed it looked like the new Long's Drugs was open - in fact they had just had their blessing with Lady Ipo and so we decided to check it out.
