As far as I can tell, Waze, Google, Mapquest, and many others have eliminated the ability to map driving directions using the shortest driving miles rather than driving time. Since, I never drive fast and hate patronizing interstates as much as root canal surgery, is there any free way to determine the shortest driving miles for a roadtrip?

With this route, there is some construction on I-64 in Virginia, but nothing major, and no construction in West Virginia. US-23 to Chillicothe and then US-35 to I-64 at Nitro, WV would normally also be a good route, but there is major construction on US-23 north of Chillicothe as well as major construction on I-64 west of Charleston.
