9 years ago. I am mapping out a massive USA Road Trip and had my route drive times on the website: roadtrippers.com. A couple times seems 'long' to me so I went to google maps & all times were significantly shorter (yippee!). Went to mapquest.com & times were similar to Google Maps BU each leg of trip was 15-30 minutes longer on mapquest.

Therefore the drive time will vary based on time of day (i.e. commute traffic vs. off hours), any accidents, etc. We live close to Silicon Valley and no one uses MapQuest here anymore.

When I plug Phoenix to Portland into Google maps, I only see one route, namely: 1. I-10 to LA. 2. I-210 to skirt LA. 3. I-5 to Portland. Since this is all interstate, you're going to have minimal winding roads. If anything much of the I-5 portion of this is the antithesis of winding roads.
