With children I would probably suggest a shorter tour. Chilkoot has the 7 hour tour that includes a stop with the dogs. You can even take a dog cart ride. The one thing you risk is getting fogged out on the train ride. We were probably fogged out 45 minutes to an hour. That can be a long time for children.
