1. If the flights are BA-operated but sold under AA flight numbers, it’s called a codeshare. Aircraft and check in will be with BA. 2. If the flight number on your ticket/confirmation for the first flight is an AA flight number (even if operated by BA), AA will decide the checked baggage allowance for all flights on the ticket.

We were informed that some of our flights would be operated by American Airlines (an Iberia partner). Our flight to Spain is tomorrow, and now I'm having major issues trying to confirm that we are ticketed.
6 years ago. According to their website: "Buy Priority. Unless you're flying on a Basic Economy fare, you can buy Priority for your trip on American marketed and operated flights: At check-in on aa.com. At check-in at an airport kiosk. Through Reservations before departure".
The entire booking however is on our BA account and is therefore a through ticket. As I said we checked in for the first leg without a problem but the Miami flight was annotated ‘check in not available’. 4. Re: American Airlines Seat Selection at check in. 5 years ago. If you have already booked, you can still pick your seats now. Just go into My Trips. Once you enter your PNR (record locator) and name and your itinerary is located, you can pull up the seat map (as indicated above) by selecting Change Seats.

Some possible answers: --codeshare ( flight operated by another carrier with an AA flight number) --fare basis too low? --the flight is full/mostly full so they won't let you choose a seat in advance.

Yes, BA charges for seat selection (before check-in) for everything I believe except for First class (Economy, Premium Economy, Business). Even if you book from a partner that has free selection, and if part of the journey is on that partner airline.
