I ended up booking direct with Alamo car rental. I like Alamo because as a member of their free Insiders club I got a small discount (maybe 5%) off the price, but more importantly I can check in online and avoid the airport check in desk by simply going to the lot and picking out my car. So for me I don't see a great advantage to Priceline anymore.
Just for fun, I decided to check car rental prices on Priceline, even though I already have reservations with Discount Hawaii Car Rental. My price for a minivan through DHCR (Enterprise) with all taxes is $302.00 for the week. The cheapest car available on Priceline (not the name your own price) was Alamo for $711.00 with all taxes!!!!
Answer 1 of 19: I have a car reserved through Costco with Alamo. I just went online and found the same car through Priceline with Alamo for $60 cheaper. Anyone have experience dealing with not going through direct with Alamo?
Answer 21 of 28: Aloha, For those of you interested in car rental mid Feb. Have reserved with costco/alamo for Feb 12th-26h (15 days total) for a total of $363 US ($20)for a compact (additional driver included).
