The traffic is not bad at all except when you are getting in and out of Austin as well as San Antonio. San Antonio to Austin has a speed limit of 85 mph much better that other highways in Texas and it takes around 1.5 hours. Add another 30-30 minutes for bad traffic and if you leave by 9, you can easily reach 11 (latest by 11:15).

Re: Dallas/Ft. Worth Rush Hour Traffic. 13 years ago. In comparison to other places, rush hour traffic around Fort Worth is not terrible. However, I have been out of Tarrant County for awhile now and have a low tolerance. Your trek down I-35W will be fairly quick (barring accidents) 30-45 minutes during peak rush hour.
