A senior discount is frequently as good as any AAA discount. I used to love AAA's Trip Tik route maps, a bare bones route map booklet that was easily readable at a glance at 75 mph. The computer generated Trip Tics are unreadable. What used to take 3 pages to clearly show my regular 300 mile route now takes 13 pages!

They still have offices in many towns around the country with staff who are happy to discuss travel plans and offer advice, or just simply dig out the documents from drawers.

AAA membership is worthwhile if you travel and use hotel discounts and other purchase discounts alone. AAA has different levels. The difference has to do with things like towing distances needed if you car broke down and you needed a tow. I manly drive within 5 miles of where I live. If need a tow I won’t have to pay extra.
As for AAA membership the discounts you get on hotels usually covers your membership if you travel enough. Usually $5-$10 savings per night. You get AAA discounts for some tourist things to do like tour or event tickets. Then you have the free naps and guide books. And you have roadside assistance.
2019 Rand-McNally Road Atlas is the one I have. Its good but doesn't include Canada, which my old one did. The 2020 issue is $13.36USD on Amazon. Rand-McNally is the standard for road atlases here. They're readily available at any WalMart or Target or many larger grocery stores like Kroger. HOWEVER, National Geographic has one on Amazon for $20 ...
