Lulu, I suggest you contact TSA via email and get it in writing if you are permitted to take contact solution outside of the 3-1-1 bag. There is nothing on the TSA website that specifies the exemption. Print any positive verification and take it with you. You are supposed to declare any med liquids prior to scanning.

I wear contacts, but never on a long haul. I couldn't wear them for 15 hours - my eyes would suffer. Years ago I was advised to get prescription sunglasses and these are what I use when travelling long haul - may look a bit stupid, but they serve a purpose.
