3 years ago. Kirk, you did not rent a car from Priceline, you rented from a rental company and had Priceline book it. That means you are held to the terms you agreed to with both companies. You are not entitled automatically to a refund because you had personal things go wrong.
The car company may require a credit card for the hold and then you can choose to pay with debit at the return. Without knowing which company PL will put you with, it's hard to say how much the deposit will be. Alamo usually only holds the reservation amount. Thrifty and Dollar hold the rental amount plus $250-$300.
