Car rental at airport for late late night arrivals. 7 years ago. We are looking for a car rental that would be open late hours as we arrive at 1am. We were thinking if there is a shuttle that would run that late at night to a hotel and than get a return back in morning to pick up car rental. Help, very stressful to get a holiday planned.

Even though you can see the terminal, you can't walk to it easily. There's a free bus (it's a county bus, so tipping shouldn't be allowed for government employees, but they'll try to get it anyway).
Your chances of g etting service late at night are really best at the Airport- off site would be a bad idea IMO. Those offices arelittle storefronts in remote locations ( often in bad areas of town) and don't generate enough late night business to stay open- you could easily be stranded at FLL>. All the major car rental companies are together right on the airport property in the joint. rental car center there. It depends what airline you are coming in on- if your flight gets into Terminal 1 you can just walk across the walkway - if you come into one of the other 3 terminals that are built around the rental center in a square pattern, you will have to take a brief airport bus ride- but ...
My wife and I will be renting an Avis car from Avis Miami Airport and returning it, eight days later, in Fort Lauderdale.We can return the car at Avis FLL Airport (and take a taxi) or - as we are joining a cruise ship the day we drop-off the car - to the Avis Port Lauderdale location (and take the free Avis shuttle into Port Lauderdale to join our cruise ship).
