I went through Hertz.com, logged into my account, used the "modify reservations" tab on the website to locate the reservation made through Priceline. The reservation number is on the Priceline confirmation you received by email. I made sure that my Hertz account had current driver's license, credit card info, etc.

Yes, contracts are binding but there's no contract until you sign the rental agreement. The reservation is just that, a reservation. There are no laws that compel car rental companies to honor reservations. And Hertz describes prepayment as a discount program, not a guarantee. You can check in on line as soon as you make your reservation. It just means that you enter all your details ( licence number etc) so that it is in the system and the document you print out has a bar code on it which is scanned at the desk. Report inappropriate content. 2.
