   You will also need a Google account to save everything. Just go to the main Google maps page and click on the menu button (three horizontal bars on the left of the search box). One of the options will be my maps. You can set up multiple layers with color coded flags, driving directions, etc. You can also share it so others can see and/or edit it.

   6 years ago. @JPDeM. Use Google Maps for a location you know in China and then switch to Satellite Mode. That should show you the "Offset Problem" Google has in China. As far as I now this has nothing to do with the "Great Firewall" but rather with some incompatibility in the GPS systems used for Map applications.

   There are also very good and free map apps like maps.me which allow you to download maps. These should provide you with detailed road maps. Both will work off-line (ie. No cell or wifi access) and will use your phone gps to find your location. However, if you need detailed trail maps or elevations etc, you will need to buy a proper paper map.
