Answer 1 of 23: United bumped my daughter from a Thanksgiving week flight due to overbooking and promised to mail a refund check to me (the purchaser). The first week of December they told her it was in the mail.
I went online to the refund page but when I put in her ticket number it came up "not found." They only give you a fax number or mailing address to get info on the status of your refund. From reading posts on Facebook I'm not optimistic about getting my $250 back anytime soon.

Most other airlines do not. Usually, it's a $150 change fee per ticket plus any refare, for a domestic ticket.

You don't say if you've contacted your credit card company. You can dispute a charge and they will pursue mattes with UA. I would phone them right away, and then worry about whether you need to file a complaint with them or contact UA. UA's Web site lists 131-777 as the number for reservations in Australia.
After 1.5hrs on the phone and multiple attempts to speak to a "supervisor", was offered the option of potentially getting on a flight for $1700. Beware- United Airlines is advertising fares on their website that they will not stand by. Once you call-in, they then attempt to book you on a substantially more expensive flight.
8. Re: United Airlines reimbursement after flight cancellation. Sep 23, 2023, 12:18 PM. If the cancellation was for reasons beyond UA’s control ( ATC, weather, etc.), you will not be reimbursed. And, if you are eligible for reimbursement. You are limited to $200, which includes hotel, meal and transportation.
