Be careful with Hotwire on rental cars...the car types they show on the website are not what the agency offers locally. We rented a Cadillac ATS or similar for San Jose de Cabo in Mexico on 7/23/15 and the similar was a Nissan Maxima...which I would have been ok with but you can rent a Nissan Maxima or similar at the same location for 1/2 the cost.

Hotwire car rental is such a scam!!! I booked car online on September 30th and I got HOT RATE for it. When I went to rent a car agency ( Ace ) they told me that there is mile limitation for my reservation ( 150 miles a day ) and that I should cancel reservation because if I go further that 450 miles in 3 days I will pay 25 cents per extra mile.

Do not use hotwire, you will be locked in to the rental before you know who its thru. I just went to Florida and rented a car thru Hotwire who set up the rental with Thrifty, which you find out only after you accept and make payment. I'm going down for a week at the end of this month, and I want to get a cheap rental car. I usually use Hertz, but for some reason, their prices are inflated to over $500 for the week!
