Just wanted to post about another excellent experience renting from National at the Cancun airport (Feb 12-21, 2023). We haven’t been back to Mexico since Covid, but twice before had a great experience with National Rental Car in Cancun.
Totally agree with above posters. There is crime everywhere in the world. Playa Flamingo is not a "hotbed" of criminal activity; just a sleepy little seaside village. Just use common sense and be careful of your "stuff." As for "missing tourists" - it's not like an army of tourists has gone missing.
