A journey planner, trip planner, or route planner is a specialized search engine used to find an optimal means of travelling between two or more given locations, sometimes using more than one transport mode. [ 1][ 2] Searches may be optimized on different criteria, for example fastest, shortest, fewest changes, cheapest. [ 3]
The vehicle routing problem ( VRP) is a combinatorial optimization and integer programming problem which asks "What is the optimal set of routes for a fleet of vehicles to traverse in order to deliver to a given set of customers?" It generalises the travelling salesman problem (TSP). It first appeared in a paper by George Dantzig and John ...
A route optimizer calculates the best route when visiting multiple locations and then returning back to the start or another location. It reorders the destinations you enter to create a route that saves time, mileage and fuel.
Normally optimization of signals along a road is a challenging and expensive task, because the sources for traffic monitoring have been limited to inductive loops, cameras or manually counting. However, due to recent advances in information technology, portable devices with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi communication are becoming more common, enabling ...
Driving distance is about the same, but speaking only for the ferry ride, there's plenty of waiting time (not to mention expense) involved. If your timing isn't perfect to catch the boat, you're probably adding at least 1.5 hours to your trip. If your timing is perfect, you're still adding at least 1/2 hour.
Namibia is a huge country, and distances between places are long, and average driving speeds low. With 17 days, I would skip the south. You, just put the day-by-day itinerary on paper, and calculate average driving speed at 50 km/h, and see how much you can cover. Also, try to limit 1-night stops as much as possible.
2-opt. In optimization, 2-opt is a simple local search algorithm for solving the traveling salesman problem . The 2-opt algorithm was first proposed by Croes in 1958, [ 1] although the basic move had already been suggested by Flood. [ 2] The main idea behind it is to take a route that crosses over itself and reorder it so that it does not.
Re: Recommendation for driving from Massachusetts to Florida. 3 years ago. Weather permitting, I-81 is always recommended over I-95. By Google maps it seems to be about 100 miles longer, but traffic through NJ, around Baltimore, DC and Richmond can negate that unless you plan on overnights thought those areas.
