Check with the rental car companies and then check with your bank to see how long they would put a hold on your money. Maybe different banks have different policies. By the way, before you make the commitment with any rental car company, you might want to do a search and take a look at the reviews and comments that various people have made about their experiences with various companies.
According to the link above Advantage will debit your card the total of the rental plus up to $140 deposit. So, if your rental total is $200 plus a $140 deposit= $340 debited from your card immediately and then the deposit refunded some days after you return the car. Again, all companies do not have the same policy. Read the T&Cs.
