3. Re: Question about Parisian postal codes. Another exception to the rule is concerning a few firms and some administrations who have a unique zipcode with a "CEDEX", then it looks like "75899 CEDEX 15". 75 being Paris département number and the 15 at the end telling you the arrondissement.
It is a system of delivery mail to large volume receivers. CEDEX 04 is indeed the 4th arrondissement, the 181 is the business's CEDEX code assignment within the 75 region ( Paris ). The normal 4th arrondissement postal code is of course 75004. Generally, the first two digits of a postal code represent the department to which mail is delivered.

The postal codes do not indicate precisely the communes but the location of the post office in charge for the distribution, and many rural communes share the same postal code number as the commune where the post office is located. Re: Zip Code for St. Barts. 16 years ago. All letters to St. Barths should have the word "CEDEX" at the end of the address. e.g. Joe Shmo, B.P. 4571 - Gustavia, St. Barthelemy, 97133, Cedex.
