    You can refill a travel-size toothpaste tube. Saves money! I've made a coupling device, from two old caps. Trim all the excess off, like the lid and as much of the spout as possible. You can then bond the two pieces together, using a soldering iron (or equivalent). If you're really handy, this can be quite a neat job, but it works very well.

    When we travel overseas w/carry-on only for 2 weeks, we take a full-size toothpaste in our 3-1-1 bag. Our full-size is 3 oz. We never use the whole thing, either. How much stuff do people really need?

    The TSA restriction is based on volume. But toothpaste marked as "3 oz" is indicating a weight, and is far less than 3 oz (~100 ml) of volume. 100 ml of toothpaste is a lot more volume than is occupied by 3 oz (by weight). I'm travelling in the UK now and see that toothpaste here is marked by volume: 100 ml tubes! Yay!
