5. Re: Uber vs Renting a car. Jun 6, 2024, 7:19 PM. Hertz or Budget/Avis have weekend rates under $50 a day (less with AAA) and you'd be able to get around and see a lot more for basically the price of a couple daily Uber rides. So it depends on the parking charge at your hotel I guess.
5. Re: AAA services for trip planning and reservations. AAA for car rental does not always offer the best deals so shopping around is a good idea. The hotel sites that offer AAA discounts have a place where you select AAA rate which is about 15% when booking online or will give the discount when showing up on the day.
This is a day I think a car is most useful. Uber's probably going to be several trips. Day 5 - Zoo. Parking is free. $20-$25 uber each way. Day 6 - Little Italy Market, SD Maritime Museum, USS Midway area. Parking costs some $. Uber probably about $25 each way.
Answer 1 of 2: There were a couple of premium cars available for my dates next week at Phoenix Skycap. Rate $159 total $221 through AAA. I’m thinking about just using Uber though.

If you are catching cabs, expect to pay a tip of $5 on top of your fare.if you're planning a day trip that's far from where you're staying, renting a car will be a good idea.
It depends on where your hotel is but ours was one exit from the Disney resort boundaries and about a 10-15 minute drive from Universal, and we found Uber/Lyft to be extremely convenient and cost effective. For 12 days we spent $340 AUD on fares, which was barely the cost of a rental car, let alone parking fees and petrol.
