We made a reservation at Budget Car rental at the San Jose airport a couple weeks back. However, recently while reading the review comments online, I noticed several negative comments and experiences.

We needed a vehicle to fit 2 adults and our 4 older (taller) teens and luggage. We rented through VAMOS RENT-A-CAR with pick-up/drop-off at the San Jose airport.

All of the reputable agencies will send a shuttle to pick you up. Once you fill out the paperwork and get driving, you'll want to get to La Fortuna before dark, by around 6 PM.
Answer 11 of 15: We will be renting a car from Alamo at SJO. Is this on-site pick up, or do I need to find a shuttle? Also, what’s the drop off procedure? We need to get to the Royal Corin near La Fortuna that day, so we’d like to hit the ground running.
20 7. Reviewed December 27, 2023. The friendliest experience at a car rental. Everybody was very helpful. This was the best experience renting a car I've ever had. The only issue was the car wasn't super clean. But I realize we're in Costa Rica and they may have different standards for car rentals compared to the US.
