16 years ago. We tend to use Hertz or Budget. The check in/out process with both companies is very quick and easy (I belong to the Hertz #1 Gold and Budget FastBreak). I've found that all of the car companies have very competitive rates. We got a great discount with Budget for our December trip through Costco.
If you have already checked out the car, you can return it early and there should be no rate difference. Budget's weekly rates are for 5-7 days, so you could potentially pay more if you returned it after 4 days and 23 hours. You can also change your rental while you have the car out over the phone at 800-218-7992.
We did have to wait about 20 min at the lot for a car to be ready when we rented from Hertz. You can save a lot of time when you join a loyalty program. OGG car rentals can be very busy depending on time of day and how many flights are arriving at that time. Budget,Thrifty and Dollar seem to be the busiest. An hour or more wait is not uncommon
