The rental car companies in Costa Rica are horrible. If you do rent a car, be prepared to pay a decent amount. The "bargains" you see on Expedia are worthless.

My trip this time was for 9 days and my total cost was $505.71. Of course they are not going to quote you a final price when you reserve the vehicle online.
