  2. Beware Hotwire - Bargain Travel Forum - Tripadvisor

15 years ago. Beware "Pig In A Poke" bookings! I just got burned by Hotwire. I booked a hotel at LAX in order to get rest before an allnight trip. After booking I learned (as is their normal procedures) that I would be staying at the Holiday Inn LAX. That sounded fine to me until I called the hotel directly to make a routine inquirey.

  3. Anyone else have refund problems with Hotwire? - Tripadvisor

1 post. 1 review. Anyone else have refund problems with Hotwire? 9 years ago. So I book a room trough Hotwire's "Secret Hot Rate" and it turns out that their Standard Rate is $2 cheaper at the same hotel. I didn't book the Standard Rate room because a pool was not listed in their amenities and I swim laps almost every day.

  4. Warning: Hotwire can unilaterally cancelled your reservation ...

There are so many cases the process is not honest. At the end, they can simply unilaterally cancel it and refund your reservation money without cause. You cannot lock in low rate anyway and you run the risk of being turned into a walk-in at hotel check-in desk. Report inappropriate content. 21-30of95 replies.

  5. Are Expedia and Hotwire safe and reliable booking sites ...

Hotwire and Expedia are reputable. Booking a hotel on Expedia is easy and safe. Hotwire is complex and not for you in this situation. You should book flights directly with the airline of your choice. The room can be booked as a package with the flight or, as przyk suggests, the room can be booked separately via the hotel website.

  6. Beware Hotwire “Deals”! - Bargain Travel Forum - Tripadvisor

    www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g1-i12290-k...

I won’t be gambling on Hotwire again (despite any positive review). Once they had my money, I was dead to them. Crap “four star” hotel, terrible customer service on my complaints (1 hour after check-in I was electrocuted by the hotel’s bedside lamp - if my feet had been bare and wet, I’d probably be dead right now!).

  7. Very Disappointing Recent Experience With Hotwire - Tripadvisor

    www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g1-i12290-k9037557...

People who seem to be most satisfied with Hotwire research the going rate of acceptable hotels before they book and only book with Hotwire if the secret rate is substantially below the going rate. I believe if you look at Hotwire's terms and conditions you will find the 58% savings is an averge based on several factors.
