I unfortunately used Payless once & was part of the 86% ‘ Payless Car Rental Reviews Online. On ConsumerAffairs.com, common complaints against Payless Car Rental range from getting overcharged and poor customer service to allegations of a bait and switch operation. On Trust Pilot, Payless has a rating of 1.5 stars out of a possible 5 stars.
Payless car rental is the worst co. I've ever dealt with. I arrived at the SFO airport to supposedly pick up my car, like their ad said, only to find it was not at the airpost, but 10 miles away from the airport, no shuttle service available and their telephone number had been changed the day before, so noone answered the phone number I had.

This company in my experience is scam. I reserved a car on line and called their offices to make sure all would go smoothly and no hidden costs. When I arrived at the rental car service desk my $174 week rental and $88 'insurance" purchase I was told "was not enough for the requirement". Worst car rental experience ever. I reserved a car online, brought that info with me to the desk at the Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport, and was very quickly schmoozed by a talented sales rep. He asked about an additional driver, and I said yes, but there was no mention of an additional charge.
