1. Re: 10 days in Norway without a car. Because of distances it is not so practical to use towns on the coast as a base for fjords in the hinterland. Consider instead moving through the area and stay a night or two in one of the villages. Public transport is reliable but limited.

On Average weather in the Highlands in September can be drier than July/August, but there are no guarantees. Lots of day trips available, by bus, train or boat (L. Ness).

6. Re: Getting around without a car. 6 years ago. I am quite surprised that Toronto residents didn't mention taking the GO train to get to the Zoo. The Rouge Hill GO station is only 6.9 km (10 min drive) from the zoo. The GO Train from Union to Rouge Hill is $7.25 cash ($6.44 Presto) and takes about 30 min.
