   Thrifty Honolulu airport rent a car sent a letter charging $43.00 for gas after a week we returned the car with full gas. The charge is being disputed with the same credit card company we charged the gas prior to returning the car to Thrifty. Looks like most reviews had the same issues of scamming car renters with additional charge for gas!

   Thrifty Car Rental at the Honolulu Airport is one of the most mismanaged businesses I have ever seen. We had reserved our vehicle 1 month in advance. Upon arrival to Thrifty, we encountered a "check-in" line with over 175 people (the line snaked around the entire lobby and continued outside close to the elevators).

   Thank you. I just checked Yelp reviews and Dollar gets 1.5 stars and Thrifty gets 2.5 stars. Both have over 100 reviews. Thrifty complaints seem to be long waits. Dollar seems to be long waits and unexpected charges that weren't agreed to. Thrifty seems to be the best of the two. Report inappropriate content. placebets.

I'd already put in our info for the Blue Chip program (free). The lot is over on Nimitz Hwy just a few minutes from the airport, but still has the free shuttle.

You'll catch the car rental shuttle outside baggage claim, in the median between the first and second streets. There is signage. Ask one of the security staff to point the way if you can't find it.
