8. Re: Walking in New York - route planner advise please! 11 years ago. Walking in NY is good but you can walk for hours and never see much. Walking between Avenues will take 2 or 3 times longer than walking between Streets. Times Square is good but there is so much more to see in lower Manhattan.

However, I like to use Google Maps for planning. I use the walking mode, enter the first location, then ask for directions to the second location.

Hi there, Anybody know any good websites or apps for planning routes/working out walking times to from places. ie. i want to be able to map out (for example) from hotel to church x at point a - site a - church y at point b - site b - church z at point c - statue @ - and back to hotel etc.

1. Re: Google Maps walking times. First, use the subway. If you choose to walk, I would add 10 minutes for short distances and 20+ minutes for long distances, just to be safe. Once you start to understand how long it takes you to walk from A to B across streets/avenues, then you can adjust.
1. Re: Google maps-offline walking directions? 7 years ago. Offline walking directions aren't supported yet. Maybe not in Toronto but in many European cities you'll notice Google gives walking directions that are very different then driving. They have to deal with pedestrian only zones and other short cuts.
