5 years ago. The pet insurance I have covers cancellation of a holiday but it only covers a small amount (mainly because I have an old policy because I have an old (19yrs) cat). There were quite strict conditions on why you could cancel though. I've never seen it in a travel insurance policy. Report inappropriate content.

Also, it’s common knowledge to never buy insurance from a third party from which you are purchasing flights /lodging. When you buy a car, you don’t buy insurance from Mazda or Ford or Audi. You buy insurance from a separate, independent insurance company. It’s the same with travel insurance. Surely a policy written by Expedia, or worse ...
OP - if you want trip cancellation coverage, be advised that for a "reasonable price" you must purchase this coverage within ~15 days of the date you paid your first deposit for your trip. Also note that "cancel for any reason" coverage won't refund you 100% of the trip cost. You usually must cancel two days or 48 hours before your trip start ...
At one extreme, you could get 'cancel for any reason' coverage which lets you cancel your trip for, well, any reason. As you'd expect, that is normally very expensive. Then there are other possible reasons for cancellation such as your passport being stolen, being laid-off, your home being destroyed, the provider going bankrupt, and dozens more.
Re: trip cancellation insurance - "for any reason". 14 years ago. I can only post what I've found for a US Citizen. It is possible for us to purchase insurance that will cover Cancel for Any Reason. Most policies will require you to purchase within 15 days of the date you first paid any type of deposit for your trip.
