Most of the time with Avis Preferred there will be a board with names on it, if your name is there with a stall numbers, you just go to the stall, check out your car for damage, get in, go to the exit and give them your license and paperwork and you are on your way.

Yes every major airport that Avis serves in the US has a preferred option and there is no check in process as your name is on the board and you can take the car to the exit, show your license and they will print the contract for you and off you go.
