5. Re: Using debit card for car rental. You can use your debit card. The problem is going to be the "HOLD" the rental car company will put on it. For example they will put $500 hold on your card, that means you must have $500 in the account, and it will be tie up that $500 until you return and clear the HOLD.
2. Re: Rental Car with a Debit Card. You should probably just check the various rental car companies. Sometimes, if your debit card has a Mastercard or Visa logo, it will be accepted. The down side to this is that if you have a problem, you will have no way to dispute it like you would have with a credit card.
