    Yep, we used the Post Office card in our July 2011 trip. No problem with it at all, and it was accepted everywhere we went. We put about $1,400 dollars on it and brought a further $1,600 cash ( and came back to the UK with around $400 unspent ).

Redeeming that amount IS possible by speaking with the Post Office Travel card call centre, HOWEVER, they, like all other forex services, apply the standard poor forex rate when 'buying back' currency.
