At least 1.5 hours each way, with the bad traffic thru Kapaa. If you want to see gardens, do the north shore ones. Next, to answer your question, once you get to the airport, the rental car return is quick, 10 minutes. Bag check in varies, but 30 minutes should cover it. The problem is the traffic jam in Kapaa.

It took probably only 20ish minutes to drop car in garage and take the shuttle to airport. The shuttles were very full and the airport was very busy at 3:30 am, so I would build in plenty of time.
You can return rental cars to either terminal a or b. Lots of signs. Hotel is between a and b on the side of the terminal with higher number gates. Take escalators or elevators up to lobby. Hotel is in the main terminal and directions are easy to follow after dropping off a car.
Re: Returning a rental car a Heathrow airport. Once you're within about two miles of the airport perimeter, you need to look for signs for " rental car returns" and then the hertz signs. Do NOT follow signs for the terminals, the pound is outside the airport. There are signs but they're not huge.

If you were to take the car back early, you might be charged for 6 days, instead of the cheaper weekly rate. Report inappropriate content.
You need to return the rental car to the airport location. All the rental agencies are staffed 24/7 so no need to worry getting there and finding no one to accept return of the vehicle. My return took place very efficiently, less than 5 minutes and I was on my way to Departures.
