I planned to have us visit Monserrat on a Saturday morning and have 1/2 the day crossed of for that visit. Neither of us are religious, but heard it was a great place to see (mostly here on TA.)

Its basically a city park area with attractions and great views over the city and the sea. Montserrat, as Gigis_mum well said above, is a range of mountains with a very distinctive shape that gives its name. The landscape is unique and spectacular, besides Montserrat has as well a great religious and political significance for Catalan people.
