The San Diego Flyer free airport shuttle drops you at the Old Town Transit Center which would be a good place to meet. You may want to walk over to the park-and-ride lot where the Enterprise driver can get into the parking lot without having to worry about bus or car traffic running in front of the transit center.

1 review. 2 helpful votes. Car rental advice away from Airport. 10 years ago. When we went to San Diego 3 years ago it was such an ordeal to get the car rental from the airport. Wait for shuttle, shuttle to rental place, stand in huge line, wait wait, so much waiting. We are coming again in August and I was wondering if we rented somewhere away ...

    1. Re: Shuttle from rental car center to the airport. It runs every 5 to 10 minutes during the day and it takes about 6 or 7 minutes to get to T2. However, I don't think you need to return your car quite that early.

    2. Re: Enterprise rental nearest San Diego airport. 1 year ago. Taxi from SAN will be less than Rideshare. You can check rates when you land but taxi will be around $15 before tip. I always check when I land, I live in the area and for the last year or two landing probably 50 times taxi has been less. Rideshare is usually anywhere from $23-$75.

NONE of the rental companies have desks INSIDE the airport. You go straight outside and take a shuttle for ALL the car companies. I often use Enterprise for my car rentals. I have found that they have good service.

The Sheraton is the closest, but a suite there is very expensive, not an easy walk to SAN anyways. You might look at Holiday Inn Bayside on Harbor Dr. (they did offer an airport shuttle, not sure since C-19) or Homewood Suites on Laning Rd. Either are just a few minutes from SAN.
