Google Maps is a web mapping platform and consumer application offered by Google. It offers satellite imagery, aerial photography, street maps, 360° interactive panoramic views of streets (Street View), real-time traffic conditions, and route planning for traveling by foot, car, bike, air (in beta) and public transportation.

Where there are lots of pics along a beach, Google Maps has previously joined these together into a blue line - a sort of faux street view. That appears to have gone. It’s now just blue dots. I’m not sure if that’s just a general Google Maps thing, or if they’re tidying things up in advance of the upcoming update.
A warning of caution using Google maps. You do need to carefully check spelling of place names. For example, Mangonui in the Far North is not spelt Manganui. Some years ago a group from India as I recall, keyed in a mistaken location miles distant from their intended route to the Coromandel Peninsula.
