Seems like whenever they get a good review, the person is accused of being an employee. Not the case. I used to be a travel agent with AAA and we always recommended the Access American product to our travelers.
The travel company never followed up with us and the insurance company took over 6 months to reimburse us after making sure we had no other insurance to cover it. They were impossible to contact to find out our status. I am look for another travel company AND insurance company for my next trip!!!!

I had to return to Canada from Rome for a family emergency. I attempt to call the number collect, no operators on duty in Rome, I then used my cell phone.
Insurance companies are not responsible for making alternative travel arrangements for you when things go wrong. That is what your tour operator should do, and appears to have done. The insurance company will only pay out after the event, and when you have had a response from all the other companies involved.
