   Thanks very much for the responses. I have done some price checking; although taxes only seem to be 10%,fees add about an additional 70%. Car rental agencies that have shuttles to their offsite location are still considered part of the airport for fee purposes.

   A couple of observations on Hertz and Avis from LAX. I visited Los Angeles twice during the past month. I was looking for compact cars at LAX fitted with GPS equipment, and since the price differentials between the various companies ran less than $5-10 per day, I went with Hertz and Avis because I've had fewer problems with them than other companies in the past.
