If you're using the same airline 45 minutes between gate to gate is adequate & probably not a concourse switch but assuming your first flight arrives on time or no delays on the tarmac. If you're flight is late that airline is responsible for reconnecting you. If you have a choice for a longer layover it's a safer bet.
