I have tried all the sites suggested and always end up booking with the rental company directly. I just booked 11 days with thrifty for $ 313.00 total ( including the crazy fees ) for a wild car. I used the AAA discount, hot deals, and am a Blue Chip Member. Just keep checking because prices can change a few times a day.
Most of the other well-known brands (Avis, Hertz, Budget, Thrifty and Dollar) DO require a deposit over and above the cost of rental (anywhere from $200 to $350). It's good to know, especially in Vegas. For a week's stay, you can easily encounter up to $1000 in holds (with hotel and car rental deposits). Report inappropriate content.
After hours of poring over these forums, and from my own experiences, it seems the biggest problems are car condition. 4. Re: How Bad is Thrifty (car rental) 8 years ago. Have signed up for a couple of frequent renter programs tonight, interestingly the Alamo prices skyrocketed once signed in! Avis, Hertz and Alamo are all a similar price (USD$850ish) for 16 days. Enterprise/National are way higher, Budget a little higher.
