I fly on the 29th may to a wedding on the 31st and still have no documents. Today I had to pay a small fortune...about a fourth of my air ticket...to get an emergency UK passport and the also a SA temp passport. The SA officials took a lot of convincing that my SA passport and ID are in the UK...I needed the ID to get a temp passport.
The phone number the Durham office gave me goes unanswered - surprise surprise. My applications were obviously straightforward ones as they have got through to printing without us being approached for more info. The standard (KP2) that the Passport Office is trying to meet is that this type of application is completed in 10 working days.
I am now at 6 weeks and the passport has not even reached the examination team. I am now being told by the passport office they have a big back log and it is taking 7 weeks for passports to even be looked at. (its taken some doing to get them to admit the extent of the delays for applications from overseas)
