You do need a Vietnam sim for grab as you need a Vietnam number . We are in Vietnam now, no dim so we can’t use grab but have used WhatsApp and Messanger a lot. Very easy to use and we just WhatsApp our mai Lin taxi driver when we need a lift. So easy
If so just go to the SIM card store and they can tell you. It is also stored in most phones somewhere in the settings. Normally SIM cards are free in Morocco in the airports and the paperwork they give you has your number on it. Do not forget either your SIM cards pin code or your PUK number. Also SIM cards will not work if not activated.
Does your phone need a physical sim card or does it use eSim codes? iPhones 11 and later and newer Android phones use eSims rather than the actual card you pop in a slot in the phone. It changes how you would set up the prepaid service in the US. Tmobile has an eSim app for unlocked phones.
Best to ask in the Swiss forum. Include how long the trip is. What your requirements are. Amount of data,voice and SMS. Any special features like calling home you might want. If you started in Italy you could buy the TIM tourist package for a month but I've no idea what you can buy across the alps.
If you travel to the USA alot, i'd suggest buying a one year sim so you can use the same number. First year is $100 plus tax so expensive. But top up (even a small amount) before your renewal say $10, and you keep all your minutes and your number for another year. And keep going. Report inappropriate content.
There are two big phamacies/sundry stores on the strip--Walgreens and CVS. They all sell cheap mobile pay-as-you- go phones. So we bought her a VirginMobile one on sale at Walgreens for $19.95 and a "top up" card for $20.00 to charge it with. You an also use your credit card.
Could be useful if you have friends/family also on Claro. If you use Skype or WhatsApp which is very popular in Brazil, you don't really need the Claro to Claro feature. TIM plan has less data but internet service is R$25/week. You would have to pay another R$25 for a 2nd week of internet. I'm not sure how many days the Claro plan is active.
